Baseball Game Preview: Orchard Park Quakers vs. Williamsville South Billies

The Orchard Park Quakers will challenge the Williamsville South Billies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Orchard Park's offense. They fell just short of Lancaster by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Quakers were not able to get on the board.

Zach Nalawadi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Orchard Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zachary Huber, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Williamsville South and Sweet Home, and Williamsville South kept the tradition alive. The Billies put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-4 win on Wednesday.

Williamsville South is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orchard Park, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
