Preview: Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans vs. Central Raiders
Cedar Vale/Dexter is 8-2 against Central since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Central Raiders at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Cedar Vale/Dexter and three for Central.
Last Friday, Cedar Vale/Dexter came up short against South Haven and fell 37-27. While losing is never fun, Cedar Vale/Dexter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while South Haven is ranked 109th).
Despite the loss, Cedar Vale/Dexter saw an underclassman step up: Zoe Davidson scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. Davidson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Webb, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Central suffered a rough 46-23 defeat at the hands of Udall on Friday.
Cedar Vale/Dexter has not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Central, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13-1.
Cedar Vale/Dexter took their win against Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 48-26. Will Cedar Vale/Dexter repeat their success, or does Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
