Basketball Recap: Benton's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Benton unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lakeside Rams by a score of 54-51. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rams since on Tuesday.

Lakeside was led to victory by Payton Futch and Mckenzie Williams. Futch dropped a double-double with 24 points and 13 boards, while Williams went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points and five rebounds. The match was Futch's 14th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Davenport, who posted three points.

Benton's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Lakeside, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Benton will challenge Lake Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Hamilton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Benton likes a good challenge. As for Lakeside, they will take on El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
