Baseball Game Preview: Haverford Fords vs. Downingtown East Cougars

The Haverford Fords will venture away from home to take on the Downingtown East Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Haverford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Wednesday, Haverford was able to grind out a solid victory over Penncrest, taking the game 7-2.

Haverford got a great performance from Gavin McClafferty as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts McClafferty has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shane Durkan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cassidy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Downingtown East entered their tilt with Bishop Shanahan on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They skirted past the Eagles 5-3. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly two runs.

Haverford's record now sits at 10-1. As for Downingtown East, their record is now 7-4.
