Baseball Recap: Newton Victorious

Newton's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They never let the Boonton Bombers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win.

Newton's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Guerra, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Guerra has hit this season.

Newton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Boonton, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Newton and Boonton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Braves (ranked 243rd) will meet West Orange (ranked seventh) at 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Boonton will face off against Wallkill Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (337 vs. 89).
