Baseball Recap: Marcellus Comes Up Short

Marcellus extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-11 in the process. They lost 7-1 to the Skaneateles Lakers. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lakers earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Marcellus saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Foy, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Skaneateles, they now have a winning record of 7-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

On Skaneateles' side, Declan Pfau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. Pfau has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hugh Carroll, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.

Coincidentally, Marcellus and Skaneateles will both be playing Homer the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will head out to face the Trojans at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Lakers will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
