Basketball Recap: Red Lake Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Red Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They snuck past the Pine River-Backus Tigers with a 53-47 win on Friday. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered an 84-80 loss the last time these two teams met.

Red Lake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Perkins, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. Perkins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Beaulieu Jr, who had 11 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Red Lake pushed their record up to 1-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.2 points per game. As for Pine River-Backus, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Red Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-59 victory against Fond du Lac Ojibwe O on the 14th. As for Pine River-Backus, they will head out to square off against Nevis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nevis will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Pine River-Backus surely won't give up without a fight.
