Soccer Game Preview: Cedar Valley vs. Spanish Fork

The Cedar Valley Aviators will head out to take on the Spanish Fork Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedar Valley has given up an average of 3.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cedar Valley fell victim to Salem Hills and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Skyhawks. Cedar Valley have struggled against Salem Hills recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Spanish Fork ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wasatch 3-2. The win was all the more spectacular given Spanish Fork's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Wasatch are ranked fifth).

Max Seeley was the driving force of Spanish Fork's attack as he scored all three of Spanish Fork's goals, bringing his season total up to 12 goals.

Cedar Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Spanish Fork, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Cedar Valley might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Spanish Fork when the teams last played back in March. Can the Aviators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
