Basketball Game Preview: West Mecklenburg Hawks vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings

West Mecklenburg is 0-10 against North Mecklenburg since November of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The West Mecklenburg Hawks will be playing at home against the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 7:15 p.m.

West Mecklenburg is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They had to suffer through a 58-15 loss at the hands of Hough. Having soared to a lofty 69 points in the game before, the Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Mecklenburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 91-56 victory over Mallard Creek. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

North Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.9 points. As for West Mecklenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

West Mecklenburg took a serious blow against North Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 80-28. Can West Mecklenburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
