Softball Recap: Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds vs. Columbus Grove Bulldogs
Lima Central Catholic extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-10. They lost 15-5 to the Columbus Grove Bulldogs. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
As for Columbus Grove, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 14-0).
For Columbus Grove's part, Dakota Dunn made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Dunn has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Erianne Heffner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Brodwolf, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one triple and one run.
Looking ahead, Lima Central Catholic will host Bluffton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbus Grove, they are taking a road trip to take on Lincolnview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
