Volleyball Recap: Huntington Beats Lynchburg-Clay for Their Fourth Straight Win

Huntington proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs 3-2. The Huntsmen have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (102-93) Huntington actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-21, 12-25, 25-20, 15-11.

Lydia Black paced Huntington's offense, picking up 19 kills. Black got some help from Leighton Keiser and her 30 assists. Black was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

The victory keeps Huntington at an undefeated 4-0. As for Lynchburg-Clay, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Huntington will square off against Southeastern at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Huntsmen's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington on the 22nd.
