Volleyball Game Preview: Merritt Island Mustangs vs. Viera Hawks

The Merritt Island Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Viera Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Merritt Island will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Merritt Island and Bishop Moore, and Merritt Island kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hornets on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Hornets since October 30, 2018.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 25-21.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Viera's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Astronaut.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-12, 25-15.

Merritt Island's win bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Viera, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Merritt Island took their victory against Viera when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
