Softball Game Preview: Rancho Bernardo Broncos vs. Mission Vista

Rancho Bernardo is a perfect 4-0 against Mission Vista since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Rancho Bernardo will head out on the road to face off against Mission Vista at 3:30 p.m. Rancho Bernardo's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Mission Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rancho Bernardo had taken La Costa Canyon down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Rancho Bernardo fell just short of La Costa Canyon by a score of 3-2. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rancho Bernardo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellery Housand, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Housand is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Even though they lost, Rancho Bernardo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mission Vista fell victim to Mira Mesa and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Marauders, falling 10-0.

Rancho Bernardo's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for Mission Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Rancho Bernardo's way against Mission Vista in their previous matchup back in May of 2018, as Rancho Bernardo made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rancho Bernardo since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
