Softball Preview: West Point Pointers vs. Middlesex Chargers        
        
		
            
 West Point is 2-8 against Middlesex since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Thursday. The West Point Pointers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Middlesex Chargers at 6:00  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
 On Tuesday,  everything went West Point's way against Charles City as West Point made off with  a  21-3 win.
  Maggie Winter made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned  (and three unearned) runs off   two  hits. Winter was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-2 with two  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Haley Spradlin was a standout: she went 4-for-4 with four  runs, five  RBI,  and two  doubles.  Delaney White was another key contributor,  scoring four  runs and  stealing three bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Middlesex has not done well against Mathews recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. Middlesex put the hurt on Mathews with a sharp  12-1 victory.
 Middlesex got a  massive  performance out of  Candice Brown, who  scored four  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Libby Oliver, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances.
 West Point is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record  this season. As for Middlesex, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
 Thursday's   matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. West Point hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Middlesex struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 West Point might still be hurting after the  10-0 defeat they got from Middlesex  in their previous meeting  on April 9th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of  Middlesex's  Magen Daniels, who   didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched.
