South Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Albemarle Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

South Davidson started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.

Emmalee Stewart paced South Davidson's offense, picking up six kills. Stewart were helped by Payton Cook and Rose Sommer, who contributed nine assists each. Marly Chase controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

South Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Albemarle, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, South Davidson will challenge College Prep & Leadership Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Albemarle, they will head out to face off against South Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
