Baseball Recap: North Arlington Wins Going Away Against Butler

North Arlington was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Butler on Wednesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-3 victory. Considering the Vikings have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chris Troyano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for North Arlington: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Sam Rosamilia was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. He also scored two runs, which is notable because North Arlington is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Nico Stanzione was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

North Arlington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

North Arlington is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, North Arlington will venture away from home to take on Hoboken at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Butler, they will take on Manchester Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
