Sycamore came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Kaneland Knights get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Sycamore pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kaneland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Sycamore is set to square off against their familiar foe Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.8, the Pirates 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Kaneland will take on rival Morris at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
