Preview: Yucaipa Thunderbirds vs. Palm Springs Indians

Yucaipa has been on the road for four straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Palm Springs Indians at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Yucaipa came up short against San Jacinto and fell 73-64.

Yucaipa's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Malik Young, who scored 31 points along with 5 assists, and Jonathan Campbell who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 rebounds. Young scored a full 48.4% of Yucaipa's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tristan Doty, who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Palm Springs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 victory over Warren. Given Palm Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Warren is ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yucaipa now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Palm Springs, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Yucaipa came out on top in a nail-biter against Palm Springs in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, sneaking past 39-36. Does Yucaipa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palm Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
