Basketball Recap: Howard's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If Howard was riding high fresh off their 82-45 takedown of Westminster last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The game between the Howard Lions and the Centennial Eagles didn't end well, with the Howard Lions falling 74-55. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Howard lost on Friday, don't look at Griffin Garner. Despite the final result, he posted 24 points and eight rebounds. The match was Garner's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Ademiju, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Howard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Howard's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-2. As for Centennial, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Howard will square off against Glenelg on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they will head out to face off against Long Reach on Monday.
