Volleyball Recap: Rio Americano Beats Ponderosa for Their Third Straight Victory

Rio Americano had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Ponderosa Bruins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in March.

The win didn't come easy: Ponderosa scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 16-25, 25-22.

Sean Sullivan paced Rio Americano's offense, picking up 15 kills. Sullivan got some help from Adam Wixom and his 22 assists. Harper Gardner controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Rio Americano's record is now 13-14. As for Ponderosa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Rio Americano didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Jesuit on the 10th. As for Ponderosa, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Vista del Lago at 5:30 p.m. on the 21st.
