Basketball Game Preview: Cass Tech Technicians vs. King Crusaders

The Cass Tech Technicians will face off against the King Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Cass Tech's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.

Cass Tech is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Michigan's top teams: Marquette, who was ranked 15th at the time (Cass Tech was ranked 23rd). Cass Tech took a 76-59 bruising from Marquette on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Technicians still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, King had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 82-62 margin over East English Village Prep. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

King's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.1 points. As for Cass Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 17-2.

Cass Tech was able to grind out a solid victory over King in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 54-42. Will Cass Tech repeat their success, or does King have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
