Volleyball Game Preview: Homestead Highlanders vs. Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes

After both having extra time off, the Homestead Highlanders and the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Homestead will be strutting in after a victory while Whitefish Bay will be coming in after a defeat.

Homestead took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Port Washington 3-2.

Homestead wouldn't go down easily and took Port Washington into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 23-25, 15-6.

Samuel Lanthier was the offensive standout of the match as he had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces he has posted over his last six matchups.

Meanwhile, Whitefish Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hartford.

Whitefish Bay started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-14, 25-9, 25-17.

Whitefish Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Homestead, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 10-13.

Homestead took their victory against Whitefish Bay in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Blue Dukes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
