Basketball Recap: Christopher Samuels' Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Stroudsburg North over Freedom

East Stroudsburg North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a hard 68-53 fall against the Freedom Patriots. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

East Stroudsburg North lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Christopher Samuels, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Samuels a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Piotr Drozd, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, East Stroudsburg North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

East Stroudsburg North's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Freedom, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

East Stroudsburg North and Minisink Valley will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Freedom, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bethlehem Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
