Softball Recap: Marshalltown Comes Up Short

If Marshalltown was feeling good fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Lincoln on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats came up short against the Ottumwa Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 12-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in June of 2024.

Marshalltown dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ottumwa, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ottumwa beat Marshalltown by a score of 10-0 later that day.
