Football Preview: Grantsville Cowboys vs. Juab Wasps

After two games on the road, Grantsville is heading back home. They will welcome the Juab Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Grantsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Manti, taking the game 28-20.

Jayden Atkinson was a one-man wrecking crew for Grantsville as he rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Peyton Thornton was another key player, picking up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Grantsville wouldn't let Manti keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Grantsville can thank Jake Chidester and Porter Davis for forcing both of them. Chidester's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making a tackle. Krue Warren was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making six total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Grantsville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Juab made sure to put some points up on the board against South Summit on Friday. Juab breezed by South Summit at home to the tune of 41-9.

Grantsville now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Juab, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Grantsville came out on top in a nail-biter against Juab in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, sneaking past 10-7. Will Grantsville repeat their success, or does Juab have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
