Homer can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Pleasant Hill Eagles with a sharp 13-3 win. The victory was just what Homer needed coming off of a 14-8 defeat in their prior contest.
Gage Shepherd made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Shepherd was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Joshua Willis and Paxton Prince did most of the damage at the plate: Willis scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Prince scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Willis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ja'Tavion Webb, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Homer's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Pleasant Hill, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Homer will head out on the road to square off against North Webster at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pleasant Hill will take on Florien at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
