Football Game Preview: Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers vs. Eastridge Lancers

The Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Eastridge Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Timon-St. Jude has given up an average of 30.5 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 33 points back in September, they were much more limited against Canisius on Saturday. They were dealt a 56-7 loss at the hands of the Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Crusaders are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Eastridge came up short against Gates Chili on Saturday and fell 24-12. The Lancers were down 24-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude will need to focus on slowing down Sylas Vanscott, one of several Eastridge players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 72 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 30 yards. Vanscott's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Luis Calixto, who threw for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 passes.

Eastridge now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
