Eastern came tearing into Wednesday's contest with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Northwestern Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win. The Comets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Eastern never let Northwestern on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

Leading Eastern to victory were Savannah Smith and Lauren Hendricks. Smith had six digs and four aces, while Hendricks had 11 digs and three aces. What's more, Smith racked up 21 assists, the most she's had over her last six matchups.

They weren't the only good servers: Eastern was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern only served five.

Eastern's record is now 20-7. As for Northwestern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Eastern will square off against Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwestern, they will face off against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
