Softball Recap: Claiborne Takes a Loss

Claiborne had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 12-13 to make it five. They lost 15-0 to the Unicoi County Blue Devils. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 5-3 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in April of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Unicoi County, the victory was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record up to 33-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games.

For Unicoi County's part, they let Kaley Toney and Emalyn Linkous run wild. Toney went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Linkous went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Carly Baxter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Claiborne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Unicoi County, they will challenge Eagleton College & Career Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
