Basketball Recap: Wilkinson County Comes Up Short

Wilkinson County lost against Loyd Star back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wilkinson County Wildcats took a blow against the Loyd Star Hornets, falling 52-18. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-12.

Wilkinson County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Oralieshia Smith, who posted six points.

Wilkinson County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Loyd Star, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bogue Chitto the next time they take the court. Loyd Star will head out to face Bogue Chitto at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Wilkinson County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
