Softball Recap: Watauga Pioneers vs. South Caldwell Spartans

The matchup between Watauga and South Caldwell on Friday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Pioneers came up short against the Spartans, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in March.

Chloe Wilson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Julie Matheson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Watauga dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for South Caldwell, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watauga will welcome Alexander Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Caldwell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
