Ross has gone a perfect 10-0 against Edgewood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Rams will head out to challenge the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Ross' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Edgewood's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ross fell victim to Bellbrook and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 1-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Rams were not able to get on the board.
Ross saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Meadow Webb, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Edgewood didn't have quite enough to beat Valley View on Monday and fell 9-8.
Leigha Combs was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). Combs was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Evie Short led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Sam Verhoff was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Edgewood dropped their record down to 5-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ross, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.
Edgewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ross hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. It's a different story for Edgewood, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Ross' hitters?
Everything went Ross' way against Edgewood when the teams last played on April 7th, as Ross made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
