Baseball Preview: McNary Celtics vs. Newberg Tigers
The McNary Celtics will head out to challenge the Newberg Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. McNary will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
McNary proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Ridgeview.

Cyler Montgomery was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. McNary is 3-1 when Montgomery posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Zeke Wellard also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Newberg not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 11-1). They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over North Salem. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Ben Davis tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Roy Corpus, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Max Stone was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
