Baseball Game Preview: Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs vs. Louisburg Warriors

The Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Louisburg Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Durham School of the Arts had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt J.F. Webb on Thursday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 17-8 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Oliver Seed made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Durham School of the Arts is undefeated when Seed posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Mars Hartmann and Vaughn Rogers did most of the damage at the plate: Hartmann got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Rogers went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Rogers has become a key player for Durham School of the Arts: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 3-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Matuszewski, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Durham School of the Arts kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Louisburg can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Southern School of Energy and Sustainability 20-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the game before.

Durham School of the Arts' record is now 7-8. As for Louisburg, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Durham School of the Arts suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Louisburg when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
