Basketball Recap: Gulf Coast HEAT Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Community Christian last Tuesday, Gulf Coast HEAT came back down to earth. Gulf Coast HEAT fell 65-55 to the Sarasota Christian Blazers on Thursday. Gulf Coast HEAT was not able to make up for their defeat to Sarasota Christian from their previous meeting back in January of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Coast HEAT lost, don't look at Steven Scott. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. The match was Scott's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Westin Lacey, who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points along with five boards and three steals.

It was another big night for Ben Milliken, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 26 points for Sarasota Christian. Milliken has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Brock, who posted 11 points in addition to eight steals and five boards.

Gulf Coast HEAT's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Sarasota Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

Gulf Coast HEAT wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-60 defeat against Out-of-Door Academy on the 10th. As for Sarasota Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-46 loss against Cardinal Mooney on the 10th.
