Vanguard College Prep hasn't had much luck against Delta Charter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Vanguard College Prep comes in on three and Delta Charter on four.
Vanguard College Prep took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Stockton Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Eagles on Thursday.
Vanguard College Prep was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least ten points. The final score came out to 12-25, 21-25, 25-13, 25-15, 15-3.

Vanguard College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adalyn Por led the charge by getting six aces and five assists. Those six aces gave Por a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Torres, who had seven assists and four aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Vanguard College Prep was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 17 aces in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Delta Charter got the win against Tioga on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.
The victory didn't come easy: Tioga scored at least 21 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-24, 25-21.
Delta Charter's win came from a few key players Vanguard College Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sophia Cohen, who had five aces and three digs. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyah Caamal, who had four aces.
Vanguard College Prep's record is now 5-7. As for Delta Charter, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Vanguard College Prep has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 13.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Delta Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 16.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Vanguard College Prep took their win against Delta Charter when the teams last played back in August by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
