Recap: Tri Titans vs. North Decatur Chargers
There's no place like home for the Tri Titans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They secured a 67-61 W over North Decatur on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Cox, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least a third of Tri's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Melton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
North Decatur's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Muckerheide, who scored 22 points along with five assists. Muckerheide is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Brady Mauer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Tri is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for North Decatur, they dropped their record down to 11-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri will take on Indiana School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Indiana School for the Deaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Thursday. As for North Decatur, North Decatur and Waldron will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lucas Shaw and Muckerheide.
