The Crestview Rebels will head out to take on the Mineral Ridge Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Crestview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Crestview made up a huge gap compared to their last game against LaBrae, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rebels fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 7-5 on Friday. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Chloe Stoops was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brenna Figley, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mineral Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 11-6 to Pymatuning Valley. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this contest were averaging 3.96 runs allowed.
Sullivan Sandy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Maddie Gerberry was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Crestview's record is now 13-10. As for Mineral Ridge, their record now sits at 18-8.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Crestview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Mineral Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Crestview's way against Mineral Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2017, as Crestview made off with a 19-2 win. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
