Softball Recap: Johnson County Comes Up Short

Cloudland hit Johnson County with a 13-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Longhorns lost 23-4 to the Highlanders. The Longhorns have struggled against the Highlanders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Ella Icenhour was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bendon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Johnson County's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Cloudland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Johnson County will welcome Happy Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.21 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cloudland, they will challenge Sullivan East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
