Basketball Recap: Landon Fulton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Weeping Water over Lourdes Central Catholic

Weeping Water was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 49-40 to the Lourdes Central Catholic Knights. The Indians were probably out for revenge after losing 37-34 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Fulton, who went 6 for 10 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus McGill, who posted ten points and six boards.

Lourdes Central Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Baxa out in front who put up 13 points. Those 13 points gave Baxa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vance Poppleton, who scored 11 points.

Weeping Water's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Lourdes Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Weeping Water has already played their next contest, a 65-37 loss against Johnson County Central on the 21st. As for Lourdes Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-51 defeat against Sidney on the 18th.
