Baseball Recap: Childress Comes Up Short

Childress was the 7-6 winner over Dalhart when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 14-13 on Friday.

Cash Hightower put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Colton Teichelman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Brody Hightower was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Childress has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9-1 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Dalhart, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

Coincidentally, Childress and Dalhart will both be playing Bushland the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will head out to face the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wolves will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
