Softball Game Preview: Klein Bearkats vs. Cypress Ranch Mustangs

For the second straight game, Klein will face off against Cypress Ranch. The Bearkats will challenge the Mustangs on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Klein 3.5, Cypress Ranch 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Klein is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Cypress Ranch 3-1. The Bearkats haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Madilyn Schultz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Megan Meinhardt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress Ranch and nudges their season record down to 18-9. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Klein, their win bumped their record up to 18-10.
