Basketball Recap: Newell-Fonda Skates Past West Bend-Mallard with Ease

There's no place like home for Newell-Fonda, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines 81-49 on Monday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Wolverines are ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newell-Fonda's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for West Bend-Mallard, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 16 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Coming up, Newell-Fonda will challenge Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Thursday. Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Newell-Fonda likes a good challenge. West Bend-Mallard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
