Soccer Game Preview: Fountain Valley vs. Gilpin County

The Fountain Valley Danes will venture away from home to face off against the Gilpin County Eagles on Wednesday.

Fountain Valley played against Manitou Springs on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

Fountain Valley better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Gilpin County's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Gilpin County really gets things going. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over Twin Peaks Classical Academy. The result was nothing new for Gilpin County, who have now won seven matches by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Twin Peaks Classical Academy with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jiselle Osteboe (2), Adele Fisher, and Elise Vincent.

Gilpin County moved to 10-3-2 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Fountain Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Fountain Valley skirted past Gilpin County 2-1 when the teams last played on Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Danes since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
