Pleasant Grove hasn't had much luck against Elk Grove recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will take on the Thundering Herd at 7:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
On Friday, Pleasant Grove made easy work of Cosumnes Oaks and carried off a 40-20 win. The Eagles pushed the score to 40-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolfpack cut but never quite recovered from.

Hekili Hernandez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 264 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. D.J. Oropeza also helped out as he racked up 137 rushing yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pleasant Grove was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 422 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Pleasant Grove's defense stepped up as well, laying out Ajeet Bains seven times. Mason Hill was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. Pleasant Grove got some further help from Myles Houston: he forced one fumble and made seven total tackles in addition to snagging two interceptions.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Elk Grove over Sheldon in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Thundering Herd blew the Huskies out of the water with a 51-0 final score. That looming 51-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Thundering Herd yet this season.
Elk Grove's win came from a few key players Pleasant Grove will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hudson Hall, who rushed for 35 yards and a pair of TDs. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Elk Grove is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chase Dyer, who rushed for 75 yards and one score.
Elk Grove is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their record now sits at 5-3.
Pleasant Grove strolled past Elk Grove in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
