Softball Recap: Canyon View Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Canyon View rose to the challenge on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Juab Wasps a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Canyon View got a big performance out of Payton King, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Addi Rushton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Canyon View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Canyon View's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Juab, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Canyon View will face off against Logan at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Juab, they will square off against Delta at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Rabbits have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.36 runs per game on average), something the Wasps will no doubt try to take advantage of.
