Baseball Game Preview: Laurens Raiders vs. Emerald Vikings

The Laurens Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Emerald Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Laurens is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Wren just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 4-1 to the Hurricanes.

Meanwhile, Emerald lost 15-3 to Georgetown on Saturday.

Emerald saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Hite, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Coleson Marino also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Emerald, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Everything went Laurens' way against Emerald when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Laurens made off with a 10-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Laurens since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
