Football Recap: Morro Bay Falls to King Kekaulike in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Morro Bay had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by the King Kekaulike Na Ali'i 68-41. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 562nd in California, while the Na Ali'i are ranked 25th in Hawaii).

When it comes to explaining why Morro Bay lost, don't look at Sands Dougherty. Despite the final result, he threw for 495 yards and five touchdowns while completing 86.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 54 yards. Dougherty's passing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 12th straight game with at least 309 passing yards dating back to last season. 104 of Dougherty's passing yards were hauled in by Anthony Campanario, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

King Kekaulike has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
