Soccer Game Preview: Scotts Valley vs. Aptos

Scotts Valley hasn't had much luck against Aptos recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Scotts Valley Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Aptos Mariners at 7:00 p.m.

Scotts Valley is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game last Wednesday. They lost 4-0 to Santa Cruz. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1135th, while the Cardinals are ranked 524th).

Meanwhile, Aptos came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.2 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pirates a 2-0 shutout.

Aptos pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matchups. As for Scotts Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Scotts Valley might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Aptos when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Scotts Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
