Baseball Recap: Montrose Wins Going Away Against Carbondale Area

Montrose's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Carbondale Area Chargers 7-1. The Meteors haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Adam Sorensen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Christopher McGee was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Montrose is undefeated when McGee posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Hudson Aukema was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The victory got Montrose back to even at 8-8. As for Carbondale Area, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Montrose has already played their next match (against Western Wayne), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Carbondale Area, they will venture away from home to take on Riverside at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
